At Hastings and Rother Furniture Service, we see every day how a simple idea can make a real difference. The circular economy—keeping items in use for as long as possible rather than throwing them away—isn’t just a concept. It’s something we put into practice across our community.

Our stock at the Essentials Store changes daily, with new items arriving all the time. While we can’t guarantee specific pieces, there’s always a range of good-quality, affordable furniture and household essentials available. We encourage customers to visit regularly to see what’s in store—you never know what you might find.

Local households can now get free, independent energy-saving advice at the Hastings Furniture Service (HFS) store in Priory Meadow thanks to a new partnership between HFS and Energise Sussex Coast.

We work closely with local authorities, housing providers and support organisations to supply low-cost, good-quality reused furniture to people who need it most. But demand is rising—and it’s putting increasing pressure on what we can provide.

Ronald has been volunteering with HFS for over 10 years as a Delivery and Collection Assistant. He gives his time two days a week and thoroughly enjoys the camaraderie of working with the team

Our annual community fundraiser exceeded all expectations, raising £50,000 to support our free furniture service for families in need.
