Traditional Oak Welsh Dresser

This is a sturdy early 20th century oak Welsh dresser which splits into two parts. There is a cupboard with two textured oak doors and a clever curved half shelf inside. There are two drawers above, plus an open top section for displaying pieces of China, with plate rack grooves, a solid panelled back, a square cornice trim and two shelves. It has square turned legs and feet, and decorative iron hinges and handles.

This type of furniture originated in Wales to provide kitchen storage and display and was traditionally made from oak or pine.

Not too ornate, this attractive oak piece would fit into traditional or more modern interiors. It is in fair condition for its age – there are some light stains inside the drawers, scorch marks on the top of the base unit, a scar on one cupboard front and repairs have been made to the legs which will need further attention to disguise.
